The Federal state budgetary educational Institution of higher education «East Siberian state institute of culture» was founded in 1960 as the  third cultural university in the country.  It is:

  • a leading educational and innovative complex in eastern Russia of training personnel for the sphere of  culture and art;
  • a cross-border centre for research and creative activities with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

The institute comprises four faculties: the Faculty of Humanities and Information, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Music and Choreography, and the Faculty of Socio-Cultural Activities, Heritage, and Tourism. More than 30, 000 graduates of the institute work in various regions of Russia and abroad.

The number of students seeking education at our higher educational institution increases annually, especially from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. International citizens receive education at all levels: undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate. The following programs are in demand: Choreographic Art, Musical and Instrumental Art, Fine Arts, Folk Art Culture, and Variety Music Art.

Students come from China, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, countries of Africa, Latin America, Middle East and neighboring countries.

Under the Russian government’s quota, it became possible for the citizens of Colombia, Vietnam, Brazil, Palestine, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of  Mozambique, the Republic of Benin, and Indonesia to study at the Institute.

International students have every opportunity to study, relax and realize their creative potential.

The Institute has got the Phoenix Concert and Theatre Centre, a media centre, a psychological center, folk music and dance ensemble «Siberian Souvenir», student theatres, concert orchestras, creative and educational laboratories, a centre for student initiatives and academic mobility, a scientific library,  a canteen, a  campus, and recreational centre «Oslik» on the shores of Lake Baikal.

All international students and trainees are provided with dormitory accommodation. International students live in the rooms of 2-3 people. The dormitory is located within walking distance from the Institute building. The accommodation costs are 3,500-4,000 rubles per month.
